A Letter from Our Board of Directors President

Sandi McGee

Dear Friends,

Welcome to the final Mainstage play in our 32nd season! We look forward to offering you a variety of entertaining productions, special engagements, educational programming and fundraising programs.

Exciting things are happening at FHT! Our 2018-19 Gala Benefit, Broadway in the Hills, A Night of Bollywood, was a smash success. Hosted at We-Ko-Pa Resort and Conference Center, this was an exotic, vibrant evening full of color, dance, food and music that celebrated the performing arts and our glorious Theater! We were honored to have had Jay Schlum as our emcee — Jay initiated an impromptu give that resulted in raising $5000 from our generous attendees. These funds will be used to replace the antiquated Youth/Mainstage Too! sound system. In addition, we are gearing up the youth education program with a unique Spring Break theatrical workshop, and are now planning summer workshops for aspiring thespians.

Our End-of Year matching donation campaign was also a success — with your kindness, we raised over $35,000. As you are well aware, ticket price alone does not cover our operating expenses. Donations can be made year-round at fhtaz.org/donate, by visiting our box office in person, or by calling 480.837.9661. Your tax deductible donations are tremendously appreciated. Any amount makes a difference. Donors are honored in show programs, at special events, fundraisers, and on our website.

Next up, on March 29 and 30, Patrick Russo returns to our Mainstage, in Judy & Liza: Together Again. There are also a limited number of tickets available for a post-show meet-and-greet reception with Patrick himself! If you saw Patrick’s show in 2017, you will want to see it again (there are some new surprises!)—and if you haven’t seen it, you should! What’s more, is that both Judy & Liza: Together Again performances are special benefit productions. We are so thankful that Patrick is offering his talents to our Theater, and equally as thankful to Lisa Malecha, who is so graciously underwriting this event.

If you were unable to attend Broadway in the Hills, A Night of Bollywood you missed our season announcement. Soon, we will have all information and tickets on sale for of all of our 2019-20 musicals and plays! Producing shows and special events requires many volunteers and sponsors. Please consider becoming a sponsor or a volunteer — call the office to discuss opportunities about how you can volunteer and sponsor in your areas of interest.

The Board of Directors and Staff of Fountain Hills Theater want to thank you for your continued support of and participation in our theater. We are pleased to continue presenting our season line-up of productions, special engagements, workshops and fundraisers.
